The Latest HIV & AIDS registry

It says:

  • There are 682 new cases for July 2015,
  • 42 of which are AIDS cases
  • 38 of whom are females
  • The biggest age group came from 25-34 yrs. old
  • Note there were 19 cases of above 50 yrs old (102 Year-to-date)
  • The national capital region has the biggest number of cases (261/38%)
  • There were 2 babies from mother-to-child or MTC transmission (both girls)
  • Year-to-date, we have 5 girls, 3 boys from MTC transmission
  • 321 were male to male sexual contacts and 248 were male & female (both) contacts
  • 7 reported deaths for July and 163 deaths year-to-date

This has long been questioned, it seems that numbers weren’t updated for some time for a variety reasons:

  • unreported AIDS related death at the hospital
  • unreported death of PLHIVs

Now What?

If you’re HIV positive, aim for undetectable viral load

If you’re HIV negative, maintain your status

If you haven’t been tested, THEN YOU ARE NOT HIV NEGATIVE,  GET TESTED.
