QQ 001: I was recently diagnosed, I don’t know what treatment center to go to.

When and Where was the diagnosis?

I would initially be concerned when and where the HIV Test was done as the post-test counseling should have provided these information:  Support groups, Treatment hubs, etc.

Things to consider in choosing your treatment hub

There are a few things you will need to consider in choosing your hub, these are (but not limited to):

  1. Location:  some patients prefer a hub that is far from their current residence, a hub in the same city of residence.
  2. Privacy: some patients prefer privacy.  Privacy, like Magic, comes with a price =)  (#OnceUponATime fanatic).  So if you prefer a private hub or clinic, there are corresponding expenses that you will need to shoulder. Some patients may prefer a hub where they may not bump into someone they know– this is a privacy issue.
  3. Finances:  #1 & #2 above will need to coincide with your financial capabilities. As of this writing, RITM offers free baseline but you will need to consider the geographical location of RITM.  Makati Medical City and The Medical City are accessible but you will need to consider spending for certain laboratories and the Likes.

You may also consider getting feedback from other patients, but careful as bitterness runs deep ( i haven’t really heard of that one but it sounds good to me).  You may get comments from a patient who would have had ONE bad experience with ONE staff in a certain hub, and comments may go out of proportion.
